“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. [Deut. 28:4.]
As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.
Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them!
They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the [city’s] gate.”Psalm 127:3-5 AMPC
I had this thought as I was praying on an open field , last week.
Children are powerful arrows, they need to be sharpen and honed , the wood in them need to be dried and pull straighten , signifying character building , the feathers need to be placed intricately .
The archer , carried them close , usually at the back , that may means that as an earthly father, we don’t expose them to dangers. We carried them on our backs when they are young .
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior , we help to launch them into their destiny of hitting their targets .
It is a flight path , we have to take into account the wind speed , direction , humidity, weather , even the sunlight in your eyes , in short , the prevailing conditions and the type of enemies.
That means , every arrow is different , every child is different .
We pull them , aim , shoot them with different approaches .
But they shall speak with their enemies at the gate , as a parent , we become more patient , shrewd, more wise and gentle like doves , in order to speak with enemies , with no shame , unashamed , in public spaces .
On good (parenting) days , it is only by the mercies of God , on bad days , it is only by the grace of God.
